WELCOME TO THE EWELL
MEMORIAL GATES
These Ewell Memorial Gates were built in 1932 and they were known as the “library entrance to campus” since they led to Tucker, which was the school’s library. They were the gift of Mrs. Beverly Bland Munford, and originally, wrought iron gates decorated with the College seal originally hung between the brick pillars, but they were taken down in the 1950s after trucks kept knocking into them. The cast lead statues of King William and Queen Mary were made by Emil Siebern, an American sculptor who was born in New York City in 1888.
